Ingredients
- Earl Grey tea bags: 3 large (or 4 regular)
- Water: 4 cups (divided)
- Fresh or frozen raspberries: 1 cup
- Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup
- Fresh lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
- Ice: As needed
- Fresh mint sprigs: For garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the raspberry simple syrup. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the raspberries break down, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the solids to extract all the juice. Discard the solids.
- Step 2: Brew the Earl Grey tea. Heat 2 cups of water to just below boiling. Place the Earl Grey tea bags in a heatproof pitcher or large mug. Pour the hot water over the tea bags and steep for 3-5 minutes, or to your desired strength. Remove and discard the tea bags.
- Step 3: Combine the ingredients. Pour the freshly brewed Earl Grey tea into a large pitcher. Add the prepared raspberry simple syrup and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Stir well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Step 4: Dilute and chill. Add the remaining 1.5 cups of cold water to the pitcher, or adjust to your preferred strength. Stir again. Refrigerate the iced tea for at least 1-2 hours, or until it is thoroughly chilled.
- Step 5: Serve the refreshing tea. Fill serving glasses with plenty of ice. Pour the chilled Earl Grey Raspberry Iced Tea over the ice. Garnish each glass with a few fresh raspberries, a lemon slice, and a sprig of fresh mint, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- Keep your delicious iced tea tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days to maintain its refreshing flavor.
- Since this is designed as a refreshing iced tea, there's no need to reheat it; if it warms up, simply return it to the fridge or top with more ice for that delightful chill.
- For a truly Instagram-worthy serve, fill tall glasses with plenty of ice, then pour in your tea and adorn each with a sprig of fresh mint and a couple of vibrant raspberries – a slice of lemon on the rim adds a lovely touch!
- For the most vibrant flavor and color, really take your time pressing the raspberry solids through the sieve when making the syrup; this extracts every last drop of deliciousness!
