Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons Ube Halaya (Ube Jam)
- 1–2 tablespoons Sweetened Condensed Milk (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup Milk (dairy or non-dairy, e.g., whole milk, oat milk)
- 2 shots Strong Brewed Coffee or Espresso (approximately 2–3 fl oz)
- 1 full glass Ice Cubes
- 1 tablespoon Hot Water
- 1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Powder (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1: In a small bowl or the bottom of your serving glass, combine the ube halaya, sweetened condensed milk, hot water, and alcohol-free vanilla extract (if using). Stir vigorously with a spoon or whisk until the ube mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Step 2: Fill your serving glass completely with ice cubes.
- Step 3: Pour the prepared ube mixture over the ice.
- Step 4: Slowly add the milk to the glass, pouring it gently over the ube mixture and ice.
- Step 5: Carefully pour the freshly brewed strong coffee or espresso shots over the milk layer.
- Step 6: Stir all ingredients together thoroughly with a long spoon until the latte is evenly purple and creamy. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired before serving immediately.
Notes
- Prepare the ube halaya and condensed milk mixture in advance and store it covered in the fridge for up to 3 days; simply mix with fresh milk, coffee, and ice when you're ready for an instant treat.
- This delightful beverage is crafted to be enjoyed cold, so reheating is not recommended as it will alter the texture and flavor, best enjoyed fresh.
- Elevate your latte with a creative garnish like a dollop of whipped cream, a sprinkle of toasted coconut flakes, or a drizzle of extra ube halaya for a beautiful finish.
- For that Instagram-worthy layered effect, gently pour the milk over the ice and ube base, then carefully float the coffee shots on top before giving it a final stir to blend into a creamy purple delight.
