Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (60g) All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (45g) Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (100g) Granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120g) Plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or low-fat)
- 1 large Egg
- 1/4 cup (56g) Unsalted butter, melted (or coconut oil)
- 1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan, or line with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.
- Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and baking powder until well combined and lump-free.
- Step 3: In a separate large bowl, whisk together the plain Greek yogurt, large egg, melted butter (or coconut oil), and vanilla powder until smooth and uniform.
- Step 4: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix with a spatula or whisk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few streaks of flour are acceptable to ensure fudgy brownies.
- Step 5: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs but not wet batter. The edges should be set, but the center may still look slightly soft for a fudgy texture.
- Step 6: Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting out and cutting into squares. This allows them to set properly and enhances their fudgy texture.
Notes
- Store your brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer enjoyment while maintaining their delicious fudginess.
- For a wonderfully warm experience, gently microwave an individual brownie for 10-15 seconds, or heat in a 275°F (135°C) oven for 5-7 minutes.
- These fudgy delights are perfect on their own, but truly shine when served with an extra dollop of plain Greek yogurt and a handful of fresh berries.
- To achieve that signature fudgy texture, be sure to mix the wet and dry ingredients *just* until combined, resisting the urge to overmix even if a few flour streaks remain.
